FACES OF THE BREWERY – EMIL DOLANSKÝ

There are people who go to the brewery to work.

And then there are those who live with it.

Emil Dolanský was born on 21 February 1976 and this year he celebrates his fiftieth birthday. He has been associated with beer in Český Krumlov since 1993, when he joined the former Eggenberg brewery as a bottler of barrels. He tried bottling large aluminium hectolitre barrels and got to know the craft from its physical basis.

A year later, it was replaced by a taproom and a lager cellar. Quiet work, where the beer matures and where one learns patience. When production in Eggenberg ended, Emil stayed. For a short time he worked as a doorman and kept the premises moving – a place that never ceased to be a brewery for him.

With the resumption of production in 2016, it switched to new technology and became a respected part of the Historický pivovar Český Krumlov brewery family. From the brewhouse to bottling, he now accompanies the beer journey with the calmness of someone who knows that good things take time. He also lives in the brewery and his canine companions Maya and Rozarka keep him company every day. Whenever he is needed, he is helpful to the whole area. His legendary sense of humour has become part of the daily work here and has helped him to get through even the toughest days.

Emil Dolanský is the third generation of brewers since 1949. In period photographs he stands alongside his grandfather and father, elsewhere he is pictured with his mother, grandmother and sister. Another image recalls moments with his father on the “sixth step” and the famous travelling viper.

Such faces give the brewery a memory.

And peace of mind for the beer of Krumlov, with which it can mature.

We wish Emil a very happy birthday today!
