At Historický pivovar Český Krumlov we believe that beer makes sense where it becomes part of people’s lives. And just such a place is the Gypsy Cellar – a stylish and honest Krumlov restaurant, which since 1993 has been an integral part of the local colour.
Behind the restaurant are the husband and wife team of Milan and Věrka Kotlár, who have been running the restaurant as a family business since day one. They cook, serve and serve beer themselves. And thanks to these hard-working patriots, the beer from our brewery has been flowing ever since we started brewing again.
The Gypsy Jizba is a place popular with locals and tourists alike. It is a place where one can rest from the summer rays, eat honestly, drink well and feel welcome.
Romani music that will make the evening dance
Weekend evenings with live Romani music are an essential part of the atmosphere. The violin, accordion and double bass make the space ring so loudly that hardly anyone stays seated. Dancing between the tables is spontaneous and joyful, and it is this music that creates a unique experience that keeps people coming back to the jizba again and again.
A place with soul and history
The restaurant is housed in cosy, stylish premises that offer a pleasant shade in summer and the warmth of home on cooler days. Hand-painted portraits of regulars hang on the walls – those who have been coming here for years have a place not only at the table, but also in the local memory.
